As I sit with a warm cup of tea in hand, I can hear the birds serenading outside my window. There are sweet little sounds from a tiny bird, along with the gentle rhythm of a woodpecker at a nearby tree.
The sounds are a sign that spring will soon be here, as the birds are now returning to the trees close by. For the first time in a number of days, I am reminded of the beauty of spring and how much I love the sounds of nature.
This year has been unbelievably difficult for so many reasons. And it would be understandable to have a feeling of despair as we witness what is unfolding in many parts of the world.
Yet as I listen to the birds singing, their songs are the only sound I hear in the quiet of the morning.
There is something sacred about this moment. As if the birds are here to reassure us that there is still beauty in the world that we live in. And deep within many of us is the desire for peace and the need to create a world where all people will be safe and respected.
The qualities of compassion and kindness and moral courage will live on forever. And the strength of our spirit and our search for peace will prevail.
